Group distributing bibles at Orange County high schools

The Holy Bible in the hallways of your child's school -- it's not something you see every day, but on Wednesday, volunteers will bring the holy word to 11 Orange County high schools.
"We'll have the passive distribution of bibles which essentially provides for a place for individuals that have petitioned the district, to place bibles on a table or stand," said Diego Rodriguez, attorney for Orange County Public Schools.
The bibles will be distributed by World Changers of Florida, a religious organization that calls themselves concerned citizens wishing to influence the world by engaging in local, state and national issues.  School officials say the bibles will be placed on a table in areas where students hang out during their free time.
"There will not be any representatives from that organization standing there to otherwise encourage or discourage them from picking up the bibles," Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez says they're allowing the organization to bring bibles to Orange County high schools to avoid legal action, after the group sued the Collier County school board for not allowing the bible distribution and subsequently the U.S. district court entered a consent decree.

"My son's a student here, and it doesn't bother me, I think it's a good thing," said Parent Michael Hammond
Parents at Edgewater High School, one of the schools that will have bibles available Wednesday morning, say as long as it's not forced on students, they're fine with it.
"If someone's not interested in taking it or reading it, they certainly don't have to," said Debbie Brown, a parent.
"They're not forcing their ideas on somebody, it's just and option hey here's a bible if you want to pick one up you can, I think that's a good idea," Hammond said.
But some groups disagree, including the ACLU who says if bibles are allowed in schools, then other religious books should also be allowed.
District officials say they allowed the World Changers group to place bibles in Orange County schools last year, and for the most part they say parents didn't raise any major concerns,
Here is a list of the Orange County high schools that will have bibles available for students to pick up starting tomorrow:  Evans, Boone, Colonial, Jones, Wekiva, Apopka, Edgewater, timber creek, cypress creek, winter park, and university high school.
