Comedian Chris Rock is campaigning for President Barack Obama's proposals to ban assault-style weapons and require background checks for all gun sales.
Rock, with singer Tony Bennett and other celebrities, was in Washington, D.C., today to lobby Congress.
At a news conference, Rock said:
"I'm not going to say much. I think everybody else is far better at this than me. I'm just here to support the President of the United States. The President of the United States is, you know, our boss and, you know, the President and the First Lady are kind of like the mom and the dad of the country and when your dad says something, you listen. And when you don't, it usually bites you in the [butt] later on, and so, I'm here to support the President. Thank you."
Critics say the president's gun control proposals will undermine the constitutional right to own a gun.
