Police in Tempe are investigating a reported road-rage shooting on a freeway that put five schools in a precautionary lockdown for hours.
Authorities say shots were fired from one vehicle at another vehicle near the Loop 101 and U.S. 60 about 1:20 p.m. Thursday.
Police say one man was injured, but drove himself to a hospital for treatment.
Officers pulled over the vehicle from which the shots were fired.
They say two people were inside that vehicle and one of them has been detained.
The second person fled on foot and police still are searching for that person.
Police say one high school, three elementary schools and one preschool were put on precautionary lockdown as officers conduct their search.
They say the lockdowns were lifted shortly before 4:30 p.m.
