Superstorm Sandy victims dealing with blizzard

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

For victims of Hurricane Sandy, hearing that the blizzard was heading our way was the last thing they wanted encounter.

So how are they dealing with the aftermath of the snowstorm?

A frigid but quiet night in Breezy Point and there still aren't many folks who are back in their homes. Friday night's blizzard, well, was another little kick in the pants for people who have been through so much.

"Mother nature, you can't play with her."

Paul O'Donnell knows how tough a combatant Mother Nature can be. After Sandy, he's still working to get back in his Breezy Point home. He was worried about the blizzard and Nor'easter.

"Nothing compares, you can see the outline of the water mark from Sandy on the house, so it's not going to break my spirit," said O'Donnell.

The spirit of the folks in Breezy Point is a decent match for the strength of the February wind, and piles of snow -- a community where most streets are still dotted with storage containers and dumpsters.

"I'm the only one on thus block right now, sleeping here, some people come during the daytime, on weekends it's usually pretty crowded and it works out," said Mike Pallini.

Mike was here for the winter storm last night.

"Every time they say nor'easter, yeah we freak out and sweat the nor'easter out.

This one not so bad here, but its relative considering Sandy's destruction, how far they've come, and how far they have to go.

Many of contractors who come are here during the day, they leave at night. Hence, one of the reasons it's so quiet around here. The snow is a nuisance for them, but fortunately, is not a major setback.
