Fatal crash involved Flagler County deputy

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a Flagler County sheriff's deputy.

Troopers said that, around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, Deputy Christopher Crego was responding to a call when he crashed into a van near the intersection of West Black Point Road and State Road 100.  

The driver of the van, Eduardo Luis Pacheco, 64, of Palm Coast, died as a result of the collision.  Deputy Crego, 31, was transported to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach with non-life-threatening injuries.

A school bus, carrying three people, was also hit by debris from the wreck.  The occupants of the bus were not injured. 

Crego has been with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office for a year-and-a-half.
