Company gives all its employees a bonus after meeting goal

The employees of one valley call center are getting a bonus, and it isn't even the holidays. Consumer Cellular reached a milestone, and it decided to share the wealth with all of its employees.

The milestone for the cell phone company is they now have one million customers. So they decided to celebrate by doing something special with one million dollars.

"Very excited, I just found out this morning," says Everett Pickett.

Employees found out that the call center they work for in Phoenix has reached a major milestone -- one million customers. What's more is it's sharing the wealth with all of its employees.

"Our employees are the ones that made us grow, it wasn't the executive team, so they're the ones talking to the customers every day," says Greg Pryor, Consumer Cellular.

Consumer Cellular is taking $1 million. $500,000 will go to charities, the other $500,000 will be split among its 750 employees in Portland and Phoenix.

"I'm going to pay bills, a lot of them," says Pickett.

Maybe you've seen their commercials. Consumer Cellular is a cell phone company geared towards the older cell phone user. This center is where they call for help or service questions.

For most employees, the money will equal an extra paycheck. They too wish more companies would take up this practice.

"You would think all the companies would do something like that. It makes the employees feel more valuable, more like family other than just a number. Everyone should take this and learn from it absolutely," says Pickett.

Details about this company -- they are strictly an in-bound center answering calls from customers. Starting pay is $12.25 an hour. Pay can go up by a dollar in 9 months.

Employees tell me Consumer Cellular is a progressive company that offers many perks.
