NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly was on duty the day of the first bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993. He spoke with Good Day NY on the 20th anniversary of that deadly day.

"Initially it was reported to be a transformer explosion. When all the emergency people got there they realized the size and scope of this was something much bigger. It should have been a wake up call for us. It was not. The arrests were made six days after the bombing. We never fully comprehended the international scope of the problem. Ramsi Youseff was the mastermind. His goal was to topple the south tower into the north tower... and obviously kill thousands of people. He put a 20 foot fuse in the vehicle so he could get over to New Jersey and watch the explosion," said Kelly.

Six people who died in the blast in an underground garage below one of the twin towers. More than 1,000 people were injured.
