David Does It: Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival
Spring is in the air, which means the flowers are in full bloom for Epcot's 20th annual International Flower and Garden Festival.
The Disney World theme park's festival features beautiful flowers, gardens and more than 100 lit topiaries -- and this year, festival organizers have emphasized local produce, herbs and other food items.
"You can see produce, touch it and then eat it," Disney executive chef Jens Dahlmann said. "But wee wanted to make sure this is very different from [Disney's] Food and Wine [Festival]. There are food items that you don't get at Food and Wine," said Dahlmann, as he showed off a watermelon salad made with arugula and feta cheese.
Said festival manager Eric Darden: "This is by far our best year ever."
The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is going on through May 19, 2013. A paid park admission gets you into the festival. Go to Disneyworld.com/flower for details.
