Arias prosecutor Juan Martinez targeted in YouTube video

Arias prosecutor Juan Martinez targeted in YouTube video

Posted: Updated:

The prosecutor in the Jodi Arias trial has gained nationwide popularity, but his fiery temper and high profile also apparently making him a target.

We've come across a video on YouTube that takes aim at Martinez in a way that could be considered a threat.

The County Attorney's Office won't talk about this video. They won't even confirm or deny they've investigating it.

In the past they've said the safety of their prosecutors is a top priority.

The video starts off with someone watching the trial on TV. Then the viewer fires at Juan Martinez, visible on the screen. Obviously, this video isn't real and special effects were used.

Still, we showed the video to court watchers in the Arias trial.

"I think it's ridiculous and I think that people have just gone crazy with this as far as Juan Martinez," says court watcher Kathy Brown.

"It's really disturbing especially after some of the gun violence we've seen lately going on," says Scotland Squire.

The video does say it's for entertainment purposes only. But Scotland Squire thinks whoever created this video went too far.

"It's very disturbing to see something like that. You hate to think that's actually somebody sitting in a room doing that and that could be seen by other people who maybe don't have the mental stability to not go out and actually get a gun and do that."

County Attorney Bill Montgomery won't comment on this video or whether there's an investigation. Two law enforcement agencies did tell us county attorney investigators are looking into it just to make sure it's not a threat.

Juan Martinez also has tons of fans too. They've created their own YouTube videos of him.
