Globe: Video shows first explosion at Boston Marathon finish line

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON ( -- A YouTube video posted by the Boston Globe Monday afternoon shows the first of two explosions that happened at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

The first few seconds of the video show a few runners triumphantly reach the goal they've worked for months to reach. Then an explosion erupts to the left of the runners, sending runners racing toward the finish line to the ground.

Police and marathon organizers quickly step into action, lifting the injured up and carrying them away from the scene.

Three people were killed and more than 140 people were injured in two explosions on Boylston Street just before 3 p.m. There is no word on who committed the explosions or a motive.
