DPS officers try to sort out kidnapping claim

MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona Department of Public Safety officers are trying to sort out a case in which a woman is being accused by her 21-year-old daughter of kidnapping the younger woman.

DPS spokesman Bart Graves says officers responded Tuesday to a 911 call by a motorist who saw a young woman banging on the back window of a sedan driving on U.S. 60.

According to Graves, the car driven by the mother wouldn't pull over and officers finally had to use tire-deflation devices to stop the car on a Mesa street.

Graves says the differences between the woman and her daughter apparently stem from a domestic situation involving the daughter's boyfriend.

The identities of the women haven't been released.
