Brewer vetoes bill targeting trust grantors

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - Gov. Jan Brewer has vetoed a bill that aimed to settle disputes between families regarding a trust.

Brewer says she vetoed the bill Tuesday because it was overly broad, vague and harshly punitive.

House Bill 2512 would have limited a beneficiary from legally challenging the terms of a trust.

Proponents of the bill say it was necessary to prevent families from acting vindictively.

Democrats in the House of Representatives opposed the measure. It passed unanimously in the Senate.
