Dept. of Labor goes after polygamous company

Posted: Updated:

HURRICANE, Utah (AP) - The U.S. Department of Labor is cracking down on a polygamous company it says is failing to cooperate with an investigation into child labor accusations.

Labor officials say Paragon Contractors Corp. is not giving them critical information needed to complete an investigation centered around reports of children working in a pecan field in December 2012 in Hurricane, Utah.

Paragon is based in the polygamous town of Hildale on the Utah-Arizona border.

The news release says Brian Jessop, Dale Barlow and Keith Dutson are not giving information, and that Dutson has refused to appear for subpoenaed testimony.

The U.S. government has already reached an agreement with the Southern Utah Pecan Ranch over the allegations.
