Venue closes just before prom, leaving students in the lurch
CHANDLER, Ariz. -
Earlier this week, we told you about a Chandler wedding venue that fell into foreclosure -- leaving dozens of brides and grooms without a place to get married.
We've since learned a group of high school students in Gilbert are now in danger of missing out on prom. The Gilbert Christian High School prom was scheduled for May 4 at Inspirador, and has been booked since December.
With just about a week away, all the alternative venues are booked. Students already paid a $1,200 deposit for the prom, but the owners of Inspirador told the students they won't be getting their money back.
"We're just hoping somebody would give something to us or do a discount because like we said, we paid our $1,200 deposit to them and we did not get that back. So we are kind of out of money for that, so we're just hoping a door opens," says senior Trey Gass.
If they don't find another venue, students will have prom in their high school cafeteria.
