Search for escaped prisoner causing major subway problems

Subways back to normal following prisoner search

Posted: Updated:

The NYPD searched for an escaped prisoner in upper Manhattan both above and below ground in the area of St. Nicholas Ave. and W. 145th St.

Service had been suspended on four subway lines due to the investigation. Police closed the 145 St. station for over an hour as they searched for the prisoner.

Cops eventually caught Vincens Vuktilaj, 18, in the subway. He is suspected of a string of chain thefts in April.

Service on the A, C, B and D lines was restored at about 1 p.m.

Straphangers were advised to 1 train or take the M10, M11 and M7 bus service.
