A 26-year-old man is accused of having had a relationship with a former student at Mountain Pointe High School.

Phoenix police say the parents of a former student at the school contacted the staff on Wednesday and told them their adult son had been involved in a sexual relationship with David Trujillo, a volunteer teacher at the school.

The son was a minor when the alleged relationship happened.

According to police, the young man was asked about a possible inappropriate relationship with Trujillo in 2012. They say he adamantly denied any relationship at that time.

A police report stated the victim told officers he originally denied the relationship because he didn't want to get in trouble.

The victim told police he met Trujillo when he was 16-years-old and they allegedly had an ongoing sexual relationship for over a year.

Trujillo has been a dance and drama teacher at other valley schools and at a private dance studio.

During a recorded phone call, detectives listened while the victim got Trujillo to admit to having a sexual relationship with him, the report stated. Trujillo allegedly told the young man they wouldn't have to lie about their relationship anymore now that he had turned 18.

He was taken into custody at his home and later booked into jail on charges of 15 counts of sexual conduct with a minor and three counts of sexual abuse.
