Gov. Brewer talks Medicaid, drivers' licenses, and running again

PHOENIX -

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has a lot of balls in the air -- expanding Medicaid, drivers' licenses for people here illegally. And the possibility she may run again for governor.

She fought president Obama over Obamacare. But in the end she thought, if you can't beat ‘em - join 'em, expanding Medicare to 300,000 low income Arizonans.

"It was the right thing to do the morally right thing to do and the voters have twice voted for it and the bottom line is, it would take money if we were to do it on our own out of our budget. We'd have to cut education, public safety and we just got our budget in line," said Brewer.

The governor also won a victory this week when a judge sided with her, saying people in the state illegally shouldn't be granted drivers licenses.

"When the president did his deferred action program and he's going to give them all drivers' licenses, well he can't do that. There is such a thing as the rule of law and states' rights. I will continue to fight hard."

And what about running for a third term. It's a legal question. Did the term she completed when Janet Napolitano went to Washington count as a term?

Hook: "If somebody said you could would you want to?"

Brewer: "Well I've given it some thought, absolutely I've given it some thought, I'd like to complete a few more things as governor of Arizona."

Hook: "If somebody said we just got a ruling you can run again you would?"

"I probably would maybe or I might do it anyway and test it," Brewer laughed.

Oh that's all we need -- another controversy!
