OCALA, Fla. (WOGX FOX 51) -

In a 5 to 0 vote, the Marion County Commission has approved the addition of the words "In God We Trust" to the county seal.  Stationery, envelopes, lapel pins, business cards and other items will be added over time.

Commissioners said that they chose the "lower impact" version of the choices they had, which they believe will be less costly for the taxpayers.   Money will be spent for the design only, which is estimated at less than $1,000, according to commissioners. They said they will not be discarding any property in order to make the change. Instead, as items need to be purchased and replaced, they will be printed with the new logo.

"There actually is no specific additional cost, other than design, because we have to order new envelopes and letterheads and logos and emblems for our vehicles anyway," said Commissioner Earl Arnett.

Commissioners rejected a plan that would have replaced essentially everything the county that is branded with the seal and cost more than $150,000.
