ATLANTA -

Police are searching for a man they say tried to forge an old rent check from Atlanta Falcons player Julio Jones.

Authorities said that Corey Dajohn Moody, 29, worked at the apartment complex where Jones and former Falcons player Christopher Owens lived. Moody is accused of stealing their June rent checks.

Police say Moody was unsuccessful in an attempt to deposit Jones' $1,500 check using a smartphone app at some point in January.

Around that time, he changed the number on Owens' $1,243.60 check and was able to cash it at a bank.

Officials at the bank alerted police after catching the forgery attempts.

The money was refunded to Owens, who plays for the Cleveland Browns now.

Authorities are looking for Moody.
