Surveillance video released in South Daytona murder investigation
SOUTH DAYTONA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) -
The South Daytona Police Department has released surveillance video in an investigation into the murder of man who was killed while doing his laundry at an apartment complex laundromat.
The victim, 67-year-old Donald Clark, was not known to engage in any criminal activity and is believed to have been at the wrong place at the wrong time, detectives say.
The video clips released on Wednesday show two men who investigators are calling "people of interest" to the investigation.
The first video is of a man who was at a nearby Kangaroo convenience store, located at 601 Beville Road, near the laundromat where Clark was murdered. The second video is of a man walking west on Shady Place, near a 7-Eleven convenience store located at Shady Place and U.S. Highway 1, near an apartment complex where Clark 's vehicle was recovered a few days after his murder. Both videos were taken around the same time as the murder, investigators say.
Detectives also believe that a bicycle left behind at the crime scene may have something to do with the murder.
There is a reward of $15,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information on the identity of these people interest is asked to call Crimestoppers of Northeast Florida at 888-277-TIPS (8477) or Investigator John "Zack" Pickett at 386-322-3030.
