Police find vehicles taken from Ocoee home where woman's body found
OCOEE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Crime scene units and yellow tape are not familiar sites in Ocoee's upscale Admiral Point subdivision. That's where homicide detectives spent most of the afternoon and early evening investigating a death.
Police officers on Monday discovered the body of a woman inside a home at 806 Lancer Circle while conducting a "well being check." They have not released many details about what they are calling a murder, but they have identified the victim as Rosemary Pate, 52.
"She's always encouraged me to be the absolute best I can be," said the victim's niece, Tiffany Kelly. "She has always taken her nieces and nephews as her own children. She's just an awesome person."
Kelly said her aunt was a manager at Lockheed who spent a lot of time working to improve Orlando.
"Rosemary was a person who was very involved in her community and bettering children, bettering the living conditions of many."
Pate's family is stunned by her death and they hope police can find her killer soon.
"It is absolutely a priority for my family to have peace, to find out what happened," Kelly said.
The case is being worked by the Joint Homicide Investigation Team (JHIT), which includes detectives from Ocoee and Orlando.
Two vehicles taken from the home were found overnight. A 2007 Ford Fusion and a 2011 Cadillac Escalade were located several hours after they were observed as missing by investigators.
