Portable photo-enforcement towers debut at Scottsdale schools

Scottsdale Police have a new traffic tool to increase safety in school zones.

Two portable photo-enforcement towers will be rotated among Scottsdale's 31 schools.

After about a month of testing, drivers will start incurring tickets Monday.

The towers are about the size of a phone booth, making them easy to fit where photo-enforcement vans can't fit.

Most photo-enforcement cameras, both stationary and mobile, flash when drivers go 11 mph over the posted speed limit.

The school towers are set to go off at 6 mph over the posted speed limit in school zones.
