An armed bank robber was caught after leading police on a chase through a Mesa neighborhood Friday afternoon.

Police say Ahmad Conner walked into the Compass Bank near Southern Avenue and Alma School Road and pointed a handgun at numerous tellers, demanding money.

Conner allegedly ran to a lot where he had parked a white Ford Crown Victoria and fled.

A Mesa Police officer noticed a vehicle matching the description of Conner's, but lost him when he quickly pulled into a neighborhood.

The police air unit was nearby and was able to find the car.

Conner allegedly ran out of the car and began jumping from backyard to backyard until he was finally caught at a home near Revere and Laguna Azul Avenue.

Police say Conner committed another armed robbery at the same Compass Bank location on July 1.

Conner was booked and faces charges of armed robbery, robbery, criminal trespass in the 1st degree, theft and aggravated assault.
