Suspect shot in officer-involved shooting in Tempe

TEMPE, Ariz. -

A Tempe Police officer was forced to fire on a man Wednesday afternoon during a confrontation with police.

Narcotics detectives arrived at a home near Loop 101 and Southern about 4 p.m. to serve a drug-related search warrant when they were confronted by a man with a rifle.

The circumstances surrounding the confrontation are not known.

An officer felt threatened and fired at the man. He was transported to the hospital where he later died of his injuries. Police are not looking for any more suspects.

No officers were hurt.

The investigating is ongoing.
