A new mixed-use development for Daytona Beach was announced on Wednesday by the International SpeedwayCorporation (ISC).
ISC and Atlanta-based Jacoby Development, Inc. are jointly constructing a large entertainment and shopping complex that will be anchored by a Bass Pro Shops store.
Named ONE DAYTONA, the development will encompass 181acres which ISC already owns just north of International Speedway Boulevard. The preliminary conceptual designs for the first phase include 1.1 million square feet of retail, finedining, hotel accommodations, and a movie theater affiliated with Cobb Theatres.
"ONE DAYTONA combines the thrill of the legendary Speedway with thepulse of entertainment and the buzz of a premier shopping, leisure andlifestyle experience," said Jim Jacoby, Chairman and Founder of JacobyDevelopment.
Bass Pro Shops andCobb Theatres have bothsigned letters of intent with ONE DAYTONA, according to developers.
"Our goal with ONE DAYTONA is to create a vibrant year-rounddestination that will serve as a new gateway to our hometown," said ISC's ChiefExecutive Officer Lesa France Kennedy. "We're thrilled to partner withJacoby, an experienced and renowned developer, to bring this one-of-a-kind opportunityto Daytona Beach."
ISC's approved land-useentitlements allow for up to 1.4 million square feet ofretail/dining/entertainment area, 2,500 movie theater seats, 660 hotel rooms,1,350 residential units, 567,000 square feet of additional office space and500,000 square feet of commercial/industrial space.
Developers believe the project could generate up to 4,200permanent jobs at full completion. ISC and Jacobysaid they expect to move forward with ONE DAYTONA within the next six to 12 months.
