DETROIT (WJBK) -

A mother and her paraplegic son were murdered on Detroit's west side more than two weeks ago. Their family is hoping someone will come forward to get whoever is responsible off the streets.

"These people are still out there. They're capable of doing the same exact thing to you and your family," said Brian Gatewood. "The people that did this, we don't know whether they were thrill killing or what, but it wasn't right."

"This happened in an area where there are a lot of people, so someone had to have seen what happened," said Kim Marshall.

71-year-old Frances Herron and her 34-year-old son, Jason, were murdered inside their home in the 15000 block of Holmur Street.

Family members said Frances was kind and loving. Jason, although confined to his wheelchair, was known as a dreamer.

"She dedicated her life to taking care of her only child," said William Harris. "Jason and his mother spent countless hours together and were inseparable."

Crime Stoppers is now offering a $3,500 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest in this case. The number to call is 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You can remain anonymous.
