UN Weapons Inspectors' Vehicle Shot At In Syria

UN Weapons Inspectors' Vehicle Shot At In Syria

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Syria has agreed to allow United Nations inspectors to look into whether they used chemical weapons during an attack.

Those inspections are expected to take place today, just outside the city of Damascus. That's where hundreds of people died last week -- many of them children -- in what's believed to be a chemical weapons attack.

But the UN vehicle used by the chemical weapons experts was shot at by snipers Monday. The team says it's replacing vehicle and will return to the area.

Many are waiting for the U.S. response, wondering if President Barack Obama will respond with military action.

According to a senior U.S. defense official, four destroyers have been positioned in the Mediterranean Sea.

As leaders consider that response, Pope Francis is weighing in on the crisis.

The pope on Sunday spoke to tens of thousands of people in Saint Peter's Square. He said he's disturbed by the violence coming out of the country.

And he urged the Syrian regime and opposition fighters to find a peaceful solution.

Fox's Doug Luzader has more details in this video report.
