Pa. Argues Montco Same-Sex Marriage Licenses Invalid

Posted: Updated:

Lawyers for the state of Pennsylvania say marriage licenses given to same-sex couples in Montgomery County are invalid because the couples were barred from marrying – just like children.

Gov. Tom Corbett's administration filed a lawsuit earlier this month to block same-sex marriages in the county.

In a brief filed Wednesday, state attorneys say the licenses have no legitimacy.

They also compared same-sex couples to "12-year-olds" who are not allowed to marry under state law.

More than 150 marriage licenses have been issued since July.
