COOLIDGE, Ariz. -

A suspect was arrested Monday after he allegedly stole parts from a water pump and caused over $1,000 of damage in the process.

The owner of home near Kleck Road and Wheeler Road reported a large radiator, piping, water meter and fuel reservoir were stolen from a large water pump on his farm.

A suspect stole $6,600 worth of items and caused $1,800 worth of damage.

Deputies saw tire impressions left by the suspect's vehicle that were very unique. The vehicle had three of the same tires and one different tire.

A vehicle with tires matching the impressions found at the home was found in a nearby neighborhood.

Deputies say 56-year-old Kirt Watts, the vehicle's owner, denied stealing the water pump and said he was visiting a friend in the same area.

Shortly afterward, deputies say they could see the stolen items in plain view in Watts' yard. The victim positively identified that the equipment was his.

All items were found except for the radiator.

Watts claimed he found the items in the desert, but deputies say evidence and the fact that he was still covered in grease and oil from disassembling the pump confirmed he had stolen the items.

Watts was arrested at his mother's house and faces charges of burglary, Theft and Criminal Damage.
