TEMPE, Ariz. -

Is it another case of an ASU fraternity gone wild? Police say members of a frat may have been involved in a bloody brawl over the weekend that left one person beaten and unconscious.

It happened at the District on Apache, a new luxury apartment complex that just became available to rent in mid-August of this year.

The man, who is under the age of 21, was taken into an elevator and severely beaten sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning.

A female resident found him about 1 a.m. Monday morning and called 911. She reported seeing a suspect leave the elevator covered in blood.

When the man woke up, he had alcohol in his system and was uncooperative with police. The victim remains in the hospital Tuesday night.

"Later on when he woke up he realized how much damage had been done, and the injuries he suffered. He didn't remember anything of what happened, but we're investigating it as an aggravated assault," said Tempe Police Sgt. Mike Pooley.

Police have not confirmed that fraternities are involved, but witness statements suggest that this assault did involve two rival frats.

19-year-old Kiernan Bates arrested Tuesday night and faces charges of aggravated assault.

Two to three more arrests are forthcoming, Tempe Police said. Everyone involved is under the age of 21. The investigation is ongoing.

The District on Apache is not affiliated with ASU.
