Family Speak Out After Father & Son Drown In Creek

PHILADELPHIA -

Iris Kitchen is a grandmother struggling to talk about her pain.

"It's overwhelming."

The Wissahickon Creek tore from her two of the people she loves the most.

Her son-in-law Pete Luciano and her 13-year-old grandson Jordan.

"Jordan was a loveable little guy. He's going to  be missed. But in memories and spirit he's always here because I'm  going to make that happen," said Kitchen.

Police say Jordan  was swimming in the creek's Devil's Pool area known for its dangerously deep water and cross currents.

When Jordan started struggling to stay above water his father Pete jumped in to save him. Pete's three youngest children, ages 7 to 12, watched in horror, then raced to the Valley Green Inn to call for help when their father and brother didn't come back up.

Divers recovered their lifeless bodies.

Kitchen's daughter Michelle had what some might consider a fairy tale romance---if not for Friday afternoon's tragedy. She showed us a  picture of Pete and Michelle  as high school sweethearts.

They married 4-years after high school and had 8 kids. With the death of her 41-year-old husband- Michelle now has  the burden of providing for  her remaining children while  keeping their father's memory alive.

Family members say that was the second time Pete and his children had been to creek. They say both he and his son knew how to swim.
