DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Shariema Smith is at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach after being hit by a man driving a pick up truck early Friday morning.

Smith was riding her bike on her way to work at Denny's restaurant in New Smyrna Beach when she says she was hit so hard by a man driving a pick up truck, she bounced around.

She says, "I remember going up and down, like I was going from the hood to the windshield, back to the hood, then to the ground."

She says the driver got out, but didn't stick around even after she asked him to call 911.
With a broken neck, and fractured pelvis, she rolled into the median and grabbed her cellphone from her pocket and called 911.

Now, with no insurance, no way to support her family right now, she's hoping and praying for the man who hit her to come forward.

She says, "I just want whoever did this to do the right thing, police shouldn't have to come get him, he should come forward. do the right thing."

Smith describes the driver as a white man in his 40-50's with a light blue pick up truck that likely has some major front end damage.

Anyone with information is asked to call New Smyrna Beach police.
