New Smyrna Beach boy struck by car

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

A New Smyrna Beach boy was struck by a car on Thursday as he was riding a bicycle.   

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said Katelin Evans, 19, of New Smyrna Beach, was driving south on Corbin Park Rd. around 6:30 p.m. when she struck the 11-year-boy who was  riding his bike westbound on Paige Ave.   

Emergency crews performed CPR on the boy before he taken to Halifax Health Medical Center by a sheriff's helicopter.  He was later transferred to Arnold Palmer HospitaL in Orlando.

The crash remains under investigation.
