Ariz. court upholds disbarment of ex-prosecutor

Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the disbarment of a former Maricopa County prosecutor for her role in pushing failed investigations of public officials in court.

The Supreme Court denied former Deputy County Attorney Lisa Aubuchon's appeal of an attorney disciplinary panel's 2012 order that she be disbarred

Aubuchon and ex-County Attorney Andrew Thomas were disbarred for what the disciplinary panel ruled was ethical misconduct during a yearslong battle with county officials.

The disciplinary panel had said Aubuchon and Thomas knowingly filed false bribery charges against a judge.

The Supreme Court's ruling said the record clearly shows that Aubuchon abused the public trust, misused the justice system and failed to fulfill the responsibilities of a prosecutor.

Thomas did not appeal his disbarment.
