Lower Providence Family Displaced After Fire

Lower Providence Family Displaced After Fire

Posted: Updated:

SkyFOX captured flames and smoke shooting high into the air from a home on Hildebidle Drive in Lower Providence Thursday evening. Jeff Feverston says that his father, who lives a few doors down, sprung into action immediately.

"He heard the smoke alarms going off and obviously wanted to make sure everything was ok," said Jeff. His father Mark is being hailed a hero for what he did because everything wasn't ok in the house. The first thing that Mark noticed was twin 12 year old girls climbing out of a second floor window close to the roof of the garage.

"He heard some popping and crackling at the house and I guess the two younger girls were trying to get out on the roof so he just went over to help."

Fire officials say the father was already out of the house on the front lawn when his daughters tried to come downstairs but were met with heavy smoke. They were forced to go back up to the 2nd floor where they climbed out of a window. Other neighbors came home to a chaotic scene.

"I saw fire trucks and flames on the roof. There were a lot of fire trucks," said a man who lives a few doors away.

Fire officials say that the father and daughters were the only ones home. The mother was not there at the time. Jeff Feverston is glad his father was there to help their neighbors in need.

"He's always willing to help out. He would never not help out if he know somebody needed it. He's incredibly generous," said Jeff.

The victims were taken to the hospital and treated for minor burns and scrapes. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
