PHOENIX -

Three suspects pleaded not guilty Monday in the brutal beating of a fellow Arizona State University student at an upscale apartment complex.

Joshua James, Kiernan Bates and Harsimrandeep Bhatti all say they're not guilty.

The men were arrested for a brutal beating earlier in September in an elevator at The District apartments in Tempe.

The suspects are members of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

The victim is a member of rival frat, Sigma Chi Epsilon, and is continuing to recover.

All three defendants will be back in court in November.
