DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

Four people were killed this weekend on I-94 in a car accident that stemmed from a man chasing his girlfriend, police say.

Police say a man was following Jaquis Mayes, his girlfriend, in a separate vehicle when Mayes lost control and drove through a guardrail on Hurlbut St. onto I-94 late Sunday night. Her vehicle went airborne down onto the interstate and ripped off the roof of a third vehicle, killing all three passengers inside. One of those passengers was Angie Battle. Her family tells Fox 2's Maurielle Lue that, instead of celebrating what would have been her 53rd birthday today, they had to identify her body at the morgue.

"Mama, I love you. You're going to always be here with us. The lessons and memories, we will never forget them. We will uphold you to the best. I love you, Ma," Jerome Crutcher, Battle's son, says as he remembers his mother.

The other victims in the car with Battle were her 66-year-old cousin Rosie Glenn and 72-year-old Jimmie Barnett. All were members of the Outcast Motorcycle Club and were coming home from a wedding at Belle Isle when they were killed. A passenger in Mayes' car was the fourth person killed in the accident. Mayes is in critical condition in the hospital and is unresponsive, police say. Her boyfriend is in police custody facing two counts of second-degree murder.

In the meantime, if you would like to make a donation to help Battle's family pay for her funeral, you may do so at any PNC Bank.
