KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - State Rep. Doris Goodale's sister says the Kingman Republican is expected to fully recover from a serious stroke she suffered over the weekend.

Diana Walkup told the Arizona Capitol Times Wednesday that her sister is sitting up in bed at a Las Vegas hospital, is off a ventilator and medication and is regaining felling in her left side.

Goodale will begin an aggressive rehabilitation routine at the hospital soon and transfer to another facility soon, Walkup said.

Goodale has served in the Legislature since 2009 and represents a district centered on Mohave County. She chairs the House Education Committee.

The 2014 session begins in January.

Goodale's husband, Bill Goodale, died in October 2012 several weeks after suffering a stroke.
