HALO Animal Rescue has been recognized by the ASPCA for its work finding homes for thousands of cats and dogs.
In 3 months, HALO helped save more than 2,000 animals, taking home the award for Rachael Ray's ASPCA Challenge.
More than 50 animal shelters across the country took part in the challenge. HALO topped them all, receiving a $45,000 check which will go towards helping HALO with animal medical care and shelter expenses.
"I'm just really excited, I mean, we had a lot of hard work and it paid off and so we would have been happy no matter what because we saved more animals, but to get that extra, that check... just makes it more rewarding for everybody," said Heather Allen of HALO.
During the animal rescue challenge, HALO found homes for 800 more animals than they did last year.
