SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah wildlife officials have relocated a baby black bear that was exploring boats and mingling with visitors at Lake Powell last weekend.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1bsySlT ) boaters near Face Canyon spotted the animal on the beach last Friday and climbing on houseboats on Saturday.
Park rangers finally chased the 30-pound bear away from the beach, but the animal returned hours later and swam up to a houseboat.
Officials with the state Division of Wildlife Resources arrived on Tuesday to remove the bear.
They found him on a houseboat and tranquilized him.
Wayne Gustaveson with DWR says the bear jumped off the boat and started swimming but passed out, so a DWR biologist jumped in the lake and saved him.
Officials later released the bear in a remote area of southern Utah.
