Phoenix Police have arrested a man who was allegedly selling counterfeit, high-end brand name items out of the ABC Discount store near 34th Ave and Van Buren St.

The investigation began in May when detectives from the business and economic stability team received information from national retailers that the ABC Discount could be selling counterfeit products.

During the 5-month investigation, detectives and Homeland Security agents, with help from the retailers, determined that Rafael Castro was indeed selling counterfeit products there and at the Park and Swap at 38th St and Washington.

Friday, officers served two search warrants on the business locations and on Castro's home. A second person, a person of interest, was identified as being involved and she is also facing charges.

Castro, 40, allegedly admitted his involvement in the criminal enterprise. Phoenix Police Officer James Holmes says that this operation may be connected to other criminal operations on a much larger scale.
