Police: Man dead after shooting outside Detroit bank

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

Police say a man is dead following an early-morning shooting in the parking lot of a Detroit bank.

Sgt. Michael Woody says the shooting was reported about 2:30 a.m. Friday outside a Chase Bank branch along Woodward Avenue.

The 25-year-old man was in a black Jeep Liberty with the suspect who fired multiple shots after they got into an argument. The victim relayed that information to responding officers when they arrived on the scene.

Woody says the man was then taken to an area hospital, where he died.

A witness who lives nearby tells Fox 2 she heard the sound of several shots being fired after she had just arrived home from work. She says she heard about ten shots, then a pause and then possibly five more shots.

Police say they plan to review video footage from the bank's security cameras to help identify the suspect, who fled the scene.
