NJ Man Faces Murder Charges In Woman's Slaying

TABERNACLE, N.J. (AP) - State police have filed murder charges against a Trenton man accused in the death of a city woman whose body was found last week in a rural area of southern New Jersey.

Thirty-seven-year-old Terrance Patterson was also charged with felony murder kidnapping in the slaying of 47-year-old Lisa Armstrong. He was arrested Saturday and remained jailed Monday on $1 million bail.

Armstrong's body was found Oct. 8 by a surveying crew along Route 206 in Tabernacle. She was found a few yards into some trees at the side of the highway.

Detectives say it appears Armstrong was shot and killed at the scene where her body was found, and the slaying likely occurred a short time before her body was found. But a motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
