Hawks coach's DUI case headed to state court

Hawks coach's DUI case headed to state court

Posted: Updated:

An attorney for Atlanta Hawks head coach was in court early Thursday morning for a hearing, but Mike Budenholzer was not.  His attorney represented him, and the case was bound over to Fulton County state court.

Budenholzer's attorney had previously asked for the city to release dash cam video of his August arrest on DUI charges, as well as the police report.  Now, that request will be heard in state court at a later date.

Budenholzer, who is in his first season as head coach of the Hawks, was pulled over by a state trooper in midtown Atlanta for a broken tail light.  He was arrested on DUI charges, but has denied the allegations in a statement.

The Hawks organization has said the matter is serious, but they stand by their coach.
