Police were looking for 16-year-old Jasmine Thomas who was missing since Wednesday, Oct. 16 after she did not show up for school, her sister Yolanda Carroll says.

Carroll tells Fox 2 Jasmine left home Wednesday about 7:30 a.m. for school and was seen around 8:30 a.m. getting into a car, possibly a light blue Impala, that belonged to a group of five older guys. That was near Manor and Curtis streets.

"Jasmine's naive ... so maybe they just took advantage of her, I don't know," Carroll says.

Carroll says Jasmine contacted a friend Wednesday night to say she needed help and a ride home, but she wasn't sure exactly where she was. She told her friend she might be on Seven Mile Road but then the phone hung up.

Carroll tells us Jasmine called her Friday morning, saying she knew she was on the news and that she is safe. However, Carroll says she thinks Jasmine's voice sounded scared and "coached."

Carroll gave the phone number Jasmine called from to police. The phone number just goes to voicemail now.

"Jasmine wherever you're at, we love you, we miss you. We just want you to come home. This is where you belong," her mother, Beverly Thomas, says.

The city of Detroit says workers and retirees have approved pension cuts, a crucial step to emerging from the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history. The city reported results Monday after two months of balloting ended July 11. A judge still must hold a trial to determine if Detroit's overall bankruptcy plan is fair and feasible, but support from retirees is vital.
