E-cigarette vapor room in NYC

Posted: Updated:

What could I possibly be smoking, when I'm not a smoker? It's an electronic cigarette, or e-cig. It is battery powered, but this one doesn't even have any nicotine. I'll get back to that.

But first, I tested it out at The Henley Vaporium in SoHo. It is the vaporium in New York, a city that has an indoor smoking ban. But the e-cigs burn liquid nicotine into vapors, so no secondhand smoke here.

The vaporium has a whole menu of flavors. You can get 6, 12, 18, and 24 milligrams of nicotine, or in my case, zero milligrams.

The FDA has listed these ingredients as safe for use.

The Henley just opened, so it is still a work in progress but already has loyal customers.

So the dreams of smokers who still want to light up in a New York City bar have not totally gone up in smoke.
