Students injured after inflatable slide collapses at LaGrange school

LAGRANGE, Ga. -

More than a dozen fifth-grade students were injured after an inflatable slide collapsed at an elementary school in LaGrange on Friday, officials said.

According to the Troup County Sheriff's Office, two students were airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston after the accident, which happened just before 1 p.m. in the gym at Rosemont Elementary. One of those students was released, according to a statement released by Troup County School District spokesperson Tina Duckett.

Five other students were transported to West Georgia Medical Center, Duckett said. Those students were examined and released.

Another 13 students were treated at the scene and sent back to class, according to the sheriff's office.

All students were home recovering from the incident on Saturday.
