Waleska man dies in single-car accident Sunday

WALESKA, Ga. -

The Georgia State Patrol is looking into a deadly wreck that killed a grandfather and sent his daughter and grandson to the hospital.

Troopers tell FOX 5 News that they responded to Darby Road just after noon on Sunday. They say a 2011 Ford DRW Super Duty pickup truck left the roadway for unknown reasons at a curve and crashed into a tree before rolling over several times. The vehicle ended up landing on its roof.

The say the driver, 55-year-old Hector Diaz, of Waleska, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

His daughter, 28-year-old Ashley Nicole Deegan and 9-month-old Adam Campbell, both also from Waleska, were both properly restrained. They were both transposed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Troopers are still investigating the cause of the accident.
