Thousands run 26.2 miles through Atlanta

ATLANTA -

Nearly 3,000 runners and walker coursed through the streets of Atlanta on Sunday as part of the 51st annual Atlanta Marathon.

The race is organized and held by the Atlanta Track Club. It is the oldest marathon in the southeast and draws runners from all over the country.

J. Penny of Johnson City, Tennessee was the overall winner of the 26.2 mile course with the first-time marathoner Malia Mullen taking the top honors for the women.

The race this year included the inaugural running of the 10-miler, 5K and Fun Run.
