MASCOTTE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

The Lake County Sheriff's Office is now leading a murder investigation at the corner of South Bay Lake Road and Orange Street.  Mascotte Police on Monday evening asked them to take over the case, because the Sheriff's Office has more investigative resources.

Mascotte police officers responded to a house at 106 S. Bay Lake Rd. on Monday afternoon shortly before 1 p.m. after a call was received reporting a "sick person" inside the home.  When detectives arrived, they found 26-six year old Kristi Lynne Delaney dead inside her own home. Detectives will not say how she died, but did say what crime scene technicians are doing.

"They are collecting all evidence that they can, such as finger prints, all trace evidence, fibers, photographs, documentation," said Sgt. Kristin Thompson.   "Everything that would go along with a major crime scene investigation."

Detectives tell us Delaney's 3-year-old daughter realized something was wrong with her mother.  She walked down the street to her grandmother's house and Delaney's mother found her body.

Detectives tell FOX 35 that they are working several leads and have some ideas on who they are looking for in the case.  They hope to identify a suspect and to make an arrest soon.

Detectives are offering up to a $5,000 dollar reward in this case.  Make an anonymous call to Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477) if you can help solve the case.
